	You get to study at your own speed and in your own time
	The comfort of your own home
	Lower cost
	No need to interrupt busy work/home schedules
	You can repeat lessons as often as you need/wish

At The Essex Institute, three of our courses are written specifically for home study, while our Professional Practitioner Course offers it as an option.

There are a few disadvantages:

	You do not usually get supervised practice
	It is difficult to know how well you are progressing
	You are not usually able to form peer-groups for later support
	The level of professional qualification is lower
	You may not be able to gain membership of professional associations

We seek to get around some of these difficulties by giving help/advice to all students, irrespective of whether they study in the classroom or in their own homes. our course notes are extensive and professionally prepared and our audio support is second to none.
